FOR OUR FAMILIES

Parenting Connection Of Monterey County

Support For Every Stage

Parenting Connection of Monterey County offers care and connection for families from pregnancy through the early years. Our programs are designed to meet you where you are- whether you’re preparing for birth, adjusting to life with a newborn, or looking for community with other parents.

We work in partnership with Medi-Cal, local hospitals, and community organizations to make support and doula care accessible for families in Monterey County.

Warmline

Available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., our bilingual warmline offers emotional support for anyone navigating pregnancy, postpartum, or early parenting. While not a crisis line, callers and texters can receive compassionate listening, short-term counseling, and referrals to local resources. Support is open to birthing parents, partners, and family members, and can be accessed once or on an ongoing basis as needed.

Circle of Security Parenting

Circle of Security Parenting is an evidence-based parenting class designed to support and encourage secure attachment between children and caregivers in the early years of a child’s life. The 8-week sessions are held twice a year in both English and Spanish.

Family Circles

Weekly gatherings that offer community, mental health support, and play for children 0–5 and their caregivers. Led by bilingual facilitators, these circles help families connect, share, and grow together.

Peer-to-Peer Circles

Community Based

In partnership with Las Mamás de Salinas Abogan, community-based postpartum circles are hosted in parks, churches, and homes across the county. Led by trained peer facilitators, these spaces bring care and connection directly into neighborhoods.

Check Out our Doula Hub

Monterey County’s first training and support hub for doulas serving Medi-Cal members. Families receive free, non-medical support during pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and infant loss. We also host Meet Your Village event where families can connect directly with local doulas and learn about available services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be on Medi-Cal to get support?
Most of our doula and perinatal services are covered through Medi-Cal, but many of our groups and classes — like Family Circles and Circle of Security — are open to all families in Monterey County.

How do I get matched with a doula?
After you fill out the Doula Intake Form, our team will reach out to confirm your eligibility and connect you with available doulas in your area. You can also attend a Meet Your Village event to meet doulas in person before choosing one.

Can partners or other family members join?
Yes. We welcome partners, grandparents, and other support people to join visits, classes, and groups when it feels right for your family.

Is there a cost for any of the programs?
Most of our programs are offered at no cost to families. Some are covered by Medi-Cal; others are funded by community grants and donations. The Circle of Security Program is a donation based parenting class.

Are services offered in Spanish?
Yes — many of our doulas, facilitators, and staff are bilingual, and several of our classes and Family Circles are offered in both English and Spanish.

What if I’m not sure what kind of support I need?
That’s completely okay. You can call or text our Perinatal Warmline to talk with a bilingual team member who will listen, answer questions, and connect you to the right resources.

How can I stay updated on new events or classes?
